 FAQs

  • Yes! Training can be in three different models: All Virtual, Blended (Virtual & In-Person), and Completely In-Person.

  • You can complete a course in 8 hours and be certified the same day!

  • Trainings are 8 hours, but they can be spanned over two days. When you complete a blended class or virtual class there is two-hours of Pre-Work that you complete on your own, and then 6.5 hours that you complete with your instructor. I plan for 8 hours because everyone needs a break at some point.

  • MHFA has three different types: Adult, Youth, & Teen. I am currently certified in Adult 2.0 and Youth 2.0. There are also supplemental inserts that allow trainers to teach to certain communities. I am currently certified in the Higher Education community, the Public Safety Community, the Fire/EMS Community, the Veteran/Military Community, and Older Populations. All of the special designation trainings must be held in person.

What People Are Saying About The Course/Training

[When discussing the most helpful part of the training] “Discussing the case study/scenarios and seeing how others felt about their particular case study people as well. It enabled us to share multiple perspectives on how we would approach and work through ALGEE to assist the person.”

— Anonymous Participant

“The most helpful part of the course was learning what to look for to help someone. Listening to people is the gold nugget that I took away from the training. Sometimes if we just listen to hear and not to respond people are reaching out to us.”

The Physical Books

Mental Health First Aid requires supplies that must be used during training. These supplies are the physical books: The Participant Processing Guide, and the Manual. These are provided digitally with the purchase of your virtual seat for the class; however, if you want a physical copy to keep, it is necessary to purchase these separately from the course.
